The Long
Road to Lords

Salient is lost. The Company retreats with an Imperial column, crawling south through the snow. The Rebel dogs every step. Your donation buys you a place in the line, and every coin goes to Extra Life and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

Join the Company, Join the March

Salient is lost, again, the Company and Imperial army auxiliaries are on the south road. Your job is to ensure their safe arrival. The Rebel is on our ass, and every frozen mile between here and wherever we’re going has to be paid for.

Join us for two days of tabletop roleplaying featuring the all-new Black Company tabletop RPG from Arc Dream, creators of the award-winning Delta Green. Two sessions, twelve hours each, split into three-hour episodes. Reserve a timeslot - for 3-hours or for the full 24! You buy your timeslots with a donation to Extra Life, and the more you donate, the less each hour costs. Every nickel goes to the Extra Life fund for the Children’s Miracle Network.

You don’t need to know the rules or have read the books to join! Everything you need will be provided. Bring your gallows humour and some snacks - the Company will teach you the rest.

The Watch Roster

Take the Oath

Each day is four three-hour watches. Tap a watch to claim it, or take a whole day. Each skull is a seat. Red skulls are taken, and a watch is full when all eight are red. Choose as many watches as you like across both days, and the tally below shows your donation.

The Price of Enlistment

Pay the Company, save a child

Three hours is the minimum, and time comes in three-hour watches. Your donation is set by your total hours, and your watches don't need to be back to back or on the same day.

These are suggested donations in , and you're welcome to give more. Email me to register, then donate through my Extra Life page to secure your spot. If you'd rather give without playing, the Company still salutes you.

Standing Orders

Before you march

I've never played a tabletop RPG.

Good. Recruits are the Company's lifeblood, and the rules are quick to learn. There's one roll of percentile dice, only players roll, and the GM handles everything else. Pregenerated soldiers will be ready so you can jump in straight away.

Can I join partway through?

Yes. The sessions are built for soldiers to rotate in and out. New arrivals are reinforcements, and departures get a scene of their own, whether that's a transfer, a wound, or something worse.

How dark does it get?

This is gritty dark fantasy: war, sorcery, death and moral compromise. We play with lines and veils, and you can tell me your limits when you email to enlist. Players should be adults.

What if I can't make my hours?

Let me know as early as you can and I'll try to move you to another watch. Your donation has already gone to the hospitals, so it isn't wasted either way.

Can I just donate without playing?

Absolutely. Use the Extra Life link, and your name goes into the Annals as a friend of the Company.

Do I need to have read Glen Cook's books?

No, though readers will spot a few familiar faces. This campaign follows the Company's retreat out of the Salient from the first book, filling in the days and miles Croaker never wrote down.

Will it be cold?

The venue is heated. The Salient is not.

Swords, sorcery, and soldiers

You fight in a war the enemy calls good against evil. The ones who know better call it evil against far worse.
